Heart of a Sylph

Description

" It was an impossible dream.
She had always known it was so. That didn’t stop her from dreaming. It didn’t stop her from crying either. The pain of a Sylph, a spirit of the air, is often not taken seriously, frivolous creatures as they are. Their pain, tempers and tantrums generate storms, something so common and vital that not even the Angels cared for the pain of a Sylph anymore, or gave any attempt to solace.
But this Sylph wasn’t interested in the words of Angels as a whole. Her heart was beating for a single Angel, whom unknowingly was the centre of her world. Every morning she watched him fly from heaven to the world below, taking disguises to test the hearts of the mortals below.
How the Sylph wished that he would one day stop and test her heart instead, discover her dreams and the reason she loved the morning so.
It was a sad day in heaven when it was discovered that this Angel had been tricked into the Underworld; it rained and rained and rained as the Angels mourned and despaired their loss. But none of the Angels noticed a raging storm at the centre of the deluge. The Angels tried everything they could think of, but they couldn’t rescue their lost companion.
Eventually the skies cleared, and the Angels moved on. But the Sylph didn’t. The skies may have been clearing but the storm that she was didn’t quieten. Still she rages, armed and overflowing in growing power as she waits for the chance to save her Angel.
And until forever takes hold she will remain, waiting, watching, and weeping."

Wow. Wow wow wow.
You would not believe the emotional roller coaster this piece gave me. Every day I wanted to toss it out, then I'd find something inspirational and I'd continue. But I got it done, like I wanted to and like I said I would :D

So it didn't turn out as I originally imagined. In fact, very different, as I hadn't actually had much of a plan to begin with (bad idea :P). And it really isn't original in the slightest, so as a piece of design only the spear passes my inspection. And it isn't manga style in the slightest, I'm really not good at keeping things simple. The anatomy is a little out there too.

But, enough about the negatives and on to the positives! I had such fun doing parts of this, namely the clouds, lights and glowing stuff, the wings and the spear. And I now have two new brushes I've made, the line art and the coloured version of the wings, so I can cheat in minor drawings or design images ;) It's quite awesome... so just ignore the fact that the left wing (our left) is the right wing flipped :D

Closing comments: Not the best I probably could have done, but I'm happy with it. A note to all people with tablets, be grateful! It would save sooo much effort. And lastly... why has nobody ever mentioned the magnetic lasso tool on PS before? Srsly, most epic tool ever!

Have a good one all :)
